McVitie’s have been baking the Digestive biscuit for over 100 years and it continues to be a firm favourite outselling most other brands in its market. The company continues to innovate and with 4 large biscuit and snack food plants in the UK, energy and utility costs have always been high profile.
Inenco have provided support to McVitie’s for around 15 years and working in partnership have developed some innovative solutions.
Inenco have supported McVitie's both strategically and tactically, key projects include;
- £1M Inenco investment in 1MW g as turbine Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plant and other energy conservation initiatives, under a contact energy management package - commissioned in 1991 and still managed by Inenco.
- Joint Venture with McVities to install and manage a 1MW engine based Combined Heat and Power plant.
- Design and installation of a comprehensive Building Energy Management System.
- IPPC permit application and ongoing support.
Results
The initiatives detailed above, together with many other smaller projects ,have delivered energy savings in excess of £3M. In addition, McVitie's have benefited from by outdated equipment with the latest technology and ongoing compliance with legislation.
